Our Story

“In his mid 80’s, my dad started showing signs of slowing down and he started becoming more forgetful. One day mom called crying. She said dad had fallen at night while going to the bathroom and hit his head. He was in the hospital. A few days later we were startled to find that he had some bleeding in his brain, and that he was too weak to survive surgery. We were told he would never regain his full faculties.

Dad was transferred to a nursing facility. He was not able to get around anymore; he had extremely limited mental capacities. We felt helpless and extremely guilty that we: 1. Had done nothing to prepare the house to prevent his falling, 2. Did not know enough about his condition to be able to help, 3. Did not ask for help. I feel that he may have lived longer had we known how to be proactive with his care.

Dad continued to decline to the point where he did not recognize his family; within two years he passed away. Through the years we came in contact with others who had experienced similar issues with their loved ones. A passion welled up inside me to start Signature Select Services now Brazos Home Care to help families better understand how we can work together to create an environment that keeps their loved ones safe and helps proactively manage their care and wellbeing.

Since 2016 we have been on this mission. I feel empowered that we are honoring Dad by helping others avoid the guilt I experienced because I didn’t know how to properly take care of him. Our staff helps relieve some of the pressures and stress many families experience from not knowing how care for their loved ones. The Agency mission is to do this by facilitating a better sense of wellbeing – physically, emotionally, and spiritually for our clients and their families. This mission is embraced by our entire team, from the office to the care staff.”
